About Us

The Michigan Northern Lights (MNL) chorus formed in 1997, chartering with Sweet Adelines International in March of 2001 as the 22nd chapter of Region 2, Border Lakes region covering parts of Michigan and Ontario, Canada.

They perform at many area community events, nursing homes, hospitals, and private parties.  MNL's repertoire includes a wide range of popular songs from the 30's to the 70's.

Under the direction of Cheryl Wagner, they have continued to learn and grow in the art of singing four-part a cappella harmony, with training in proper vocal production, music theory, expression and showmanship.

The chorus participates in regional competition at least once every three years, as well as attending many regional and international educational events.

The Michigan Northern Lights rehearse Tuesday evenings at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gaylord from 6:30 - 9 pm, and are continually seeking female singers who share their joy of singing, love of learning, and want to discover that "inner diva".
